COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

As a direct reflection of the SELA community, the development of both the site and the programming of the SELA Cultural Center will be heavily influenced by a comprehensive community engagement effort.

The first two phases of the project, Concept Design and Schematic Design, have taken place over the last year and a half. During this time, the project team has relied on community input, from public meetings, social media campaigns, and widespread digital surveying, to establish programming and design concepts that will be further developed and refined in subsequent phases.

The community engagement effort for CEQA and Design Development Phases will include opportunities for online and in-person engagement and ongoing opportunities for personalized feedback.

The SELA Cultural Center Project team attended the LA River End of Summer Festival to engage with community members and provide updates about the project. Equipped with a scaled model of the project site and renderings, our team was able to contextualize the spaces planned for the Center, which include galleries, studios, and performance spaces.
